i have what may be a stupid question , but i recently downloaded doom on my N800 and have been playing it qite frequently. my question is , if a game like doom runs as great as it does on my 800 , why the hell cant fceu play my old 8 bit nes games at full speed with sound???

Because it has to emulate the hardware...

I tried it, slow to death. Emulator is not efficency

The hardware in the N800 could do it. There are two problems, though. The emulator needs optimization, and we still don't have a proper driver for the video hardware.

Some guys implemented the NES hardware on a single chip, built a little handheld and licensed 99 NES games
