If it had been windows (mobile, or xp, or vista), I wouldn't have bought my N800.

I wasn't used to linux at all when I got my first 770, but I'd still take it over XP on the tablets. XP would just flat not run worth a darn.

If the tablets were XP, there's no way I'd buy them. It's been 8 years since I've freed myself from Windows and I have no intention of ever going back.

Before the IT, I hated linux. I am used to _unix_, but not linux.

If XP is/would be/could be installed ... it would run very very slowly. Remember that a common (unoptimized) XP install requires 1.5GB of drive space and 256MB of memory. Not sure if the IT with its current hardware can handle that.

Why not go for Win2k, if one insists on having "that" operating system on the Eee? I know from experience that 2k runs very nicely on 64 megs of RAM (and screams -- as far as Windows variations are capable of screaming -- on 128 MB). I can't imagine it would be that hard to find drivers for the hardware.

Sure, it's not as "polished" as XP, but honestly, I'd consider that a plus.

I bought the N800 specifically _because_ it runs Linux.
