Hello,

I did a search of the forums, but did not find something that resembled the problem I now experience.

1. My battery drained last night. I connected it to the charger and it appeared to be charging.
2. I turned it on while charging to check something, and the screen would flash on/off every 30 seconds or so. I turned the unit off and went to sleep.
3. This morning, the unit was still showing the charging text and icon in the screen. I would have expected the 'battery full' text to be displayed.
4. After powering the unit on, I noticed that after the Nokia bootup screen, a white screen was presented with a grey gradient bar at the left where the task bar usually is. In fact this grey gradient bar is the same width as the task bar. This white screen stays for about 45 seconds, before returning to the normal desktop.
5. The charging icon in the status bar was full.

I have done the following:

1. turned unit off and pulled the battery for some time. Same boot up results. That white screen still presents itself after the Nokia bootup screen.

The only software changes made recently were updating the GPE suite and Maemo Mapper the other day to the latest versions.

Any thoughts on what may be causing this strange boot behaviour? Are there any logs created at bootup that might shed some light on what is happenening?

EDIT 1:

1. flashing screen issue likely due to completely depleted battery.
2. white screen with grey gradient bar on bootup in now nonexistent after removing the GPE Summary applet from my desktop. This is the culprit, and is very reproducable for me.
