I just got the N800 and want to pair it with my Samsung R410. I got both devices to accept each other. Kinda in a funky way, rather than the traditional method of connecting them. So they both understand that each other exists. Yet I cant get the N800 to connect to the phone. After the N800 accepts the paraphrase key, it just accepts it and that's it. Not sure if I have to change settings or anything, but that's all it does. Im using the default OS for the N800. Any ideas or direction would be great.

Have you used "Connectivity" in the Control Panel on your tablet to define a connection? If not:
  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel, tap "Connectivity" twice.
  3. In the "Connectivity" window that opens, tap the "Connections" button.
  4. In the "Connections" window that opens, tap the "New" button.
  5. Use the wizard that opens to define a data connection through your phone.

EDIT:
Im using the default OS for the N800.
If your tablet is still running OS2007, the above directions may be slightly off, as they're for OS2008. You should seriously consider upgrading, as OS2008 brings a number of improvements.

Which data plan, T-mobile, AT&T, etc..then you can search on the settings....I had to spend about, I am slow it seems, 20 hours to fine the correct settings for my carrier as the defaults are not correct for downloading yet will show the symptom you list...

here is T-mobiles:

GPRS

wap.voicestream.com

Phone Number to dial: *99***1#

Username and password are all blank

others did this

Just had to change the built in N810 script for Tmobile from internet2.voicestream.com to internet3.voicestream.com

Search N800 DUN for your carrier...

Well through the connectivity I set it up yet it says the phone isn't paired. I suppose I left out that it's only paired as a bluetooth device under the bluetooth tab. But it wont recognize it as a phone when scanning for phones dispite the fact that under bluetooth the symbol is a phone =s. My phone service is Metro PCS. Also Im guessing it costs something to upgrade to 2008? Thank you for the fast replies!

Two items....1st, Metro PC does not seem to have a data plan, in my location as you did not list yours I am guessing you can not pair. 2nd, if you would like to thank folks the THANKS on the bottom right of your post meeds to be clicked....

Done, I do believe I have a data plan, I can use the phone's internet as much as I want, no limit to time or price for KBs. I upgraded to OS2008. Still no change to the N800 detecting my phone as a phone, rather than just a bluetooth device. =/

http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...readid=1136583 looks relevant. HoFo in general is probably where you should be looking for generic phone problems; I don't know enough to tell whether your problem is N800 specific or not, so it might not be applicable.

I found that myself a while ago. Didnt exacly point me in the right direction. Im starting to think it's more my phone than the N800. I hope to test it with a different phone soon see what I get. If it's the phone than that puts me in an odd situation =s Only my phone detects the N800 and only when the N800 isnt scanning itself. Phone specs say it uses Bluetooth Yes HSP, HFP, DUN, OPP. Maybe I can set it up manually. Yet I dont know what to put down as the dial up code so the N800 will seek and connect to the phone.

I tested it on my mom's phone and it worked via bluetooth on the auto search and accepted it as a form of internet. Guess it's the dumb phone. Any ideas on doing it manually? Or maybe it just wont connect at all.
