I've upgraded to the latest OS on my N800 (Diablo ver 5.2008.43-7) and found the Bluetooth PAN for Maemo add on is no longer working.

For my phone (SE K800i) this is the only way I've been able to connect to the internet.

I'm completely new to linux , but have some experience with windows command line.

What script editor should I use to enable the changes to be made?

You can install an application called "bash2" in the Application Manager. bash2 is a maemo package of the Bourne Again SHell, a command shell widely used as the default on linux.

From the bash shell you can issue commands to gain root access or access other parts of the system. There are lots of good tutorials for using bash on the web as well as excellent books to get you started.

As for an editor, I recommend the leafpad text editor. It is a nice, simple GUI text editor. You can edit files from the command line just by typing

Code:
leafpad filename
