i just upgraded to os 2008, love it except i cannot install any applications. i have tried mplayer, skype, kagu, pidgin and ukmp and they all say unable to install this application... i know they are 2008 certified so what gives? and the built in media play just sits at refreshing library forever..

You're probably using the wrong repositories. Even a weak stab at searching would've showed you was to solve this. Normally, I wouldn't be inclined to help (as these topics have all been posted with nearly the same information, and all in the last week or two), but there's a growing crowd of people who really like to ***** about "search" posts, and I just don't have the patient to read any more of those, so:

Install those repositories.

I would make sure you don't have any old repository's setup for Bora or the likes, and just have OS2008 'chinook' repository's installed, you should be able to check what's installed and what's not installed via the 'Application Manager' check your Application Catalogue via menu button --> tools --> application catalogue and have a look around....

Aside from that I personally can't think why else it wouldn't work if you have all the correct repository's installed..

So, you added all the repositories and you open Application Manager and you go to the section called Browse Installable Applications and you go to each one and click the Information icon at the bottom and it says Installable and then they don't install?

Is that what you're doing?

If not, do that.

If that isn't illuminating, delete all your repositories. Then go back to the wonderful repository site mentioned above and add them all back in. Then do what I suggested above.

And if that isn't illuminating, reflash.

ok i deleted my repositiories, and added them again, to no avail. I also reinstalled OS2008 and it did nothing. I still cannot install most applications (installed fceu sucessfully) and the default media player says refreshing library forever.. and the media player stutters alot during music playback...i really like my n800, but this is rediculous

If you're still having that kind of problem after a fresh flash of the OS, there maybe something more serious wrong... maybe bad device memory?
