Hi, Anyone know how to connect N800 to internet through Congular 8525/HTC Hermes?

I sucessfully paired N800 and 8525 through bluetooth, but N800 only recognize 8525 as a PDA but not a phone. And I don't seem to have an option to set up a modem connection to CIngular either.

Anyone know a solution to it?

Thanks.

Ok this worked for me:

I downloaded this firmware @ xda-developers for the 8525 This adds some cool functions and the base is the official WM6! What is unique about this firmware is that it adds DUN back.

Step one configure your connection for the 8525 only:

START -> SETTINGS -> CONNECTIONS (tab) -> Connections (icon)

Under My ISP either "Add a new modem connection" or Manage existing connections if one already exists for the cingular network

connection name: your choice here
select modem: Cellular line (GPRS, 3G) note: don't use just cellular line option
access point name: wap.cingular
user name: wap@cingulargprs.com
password: CINGULAR1
click finish

Step two configure connection for the n800 only use same connection name as you did on the 8525

TOOLS -> Control Panel -> Connectivity -> select "Connections" button
Your choice edit or new

connection name: use same as 8525
connection type: select "GPRS" radio button
cellular network: GSM/UTMS
access point name: wap.cingular
dial-up number: *99# (do not use *99***# at this location it will not work)
user name: leave blank
password: leave blank
click next then click finish

Step three pair

COMM MANAGER -> Settings -> Bluetooth -> Mode (tab) -> Make sure "Turn on Bluetooth" is checked also check "Make this device visible to other devices"

initiate pair using the n800

When this is done go back and uncheck 8525 bluetooth visibility option, but leave the bluetooth on or checked.

Control panel -> Bluetooth -> Devices (button)

Select "new" (Note: make sure old pairs of the 8525 and n800 are deleted)

Control Panel -> Phone
On the n800 tools under phone select your 8525
click OK

Connection Icon in status bar select change connection
Then select your defined GPRS 3G connection you made and it should connect!

After you are done using this connection you may have to reset (using your stylus to push the recessed button at the bottom of your 8525 for it to connect back to the data connection for the 8525 specific use

I want to pipe in and add that this does work. I am currently using Schap's 4.20 ROM from here :
