I installed this from the Nokia 2008 site. It is awesome for music (really super). However, it wont play my videos. It sees the files and says "playback will start...." but nothing ever happens. Anyone know if there is some way to fix this? It has such if it would play the videos too. There are in AVI format by the way, but it doesnt matter the format as it wont play any of them.

mplayer playback is still crappy on n810, so I didn't add that as a dependency to ukmp yet. However, as soon as mplayer is fixed, I'll add dependency to it and thus ukmp will support videos on n810 as well.

Any more details? Is this problem n810 specific? I find mplayer video playback performance quite good with beta version of OS2008 running on n800. At least it plays most XVID videos fine (better than with OS2007).

maybe I have been testing with the wrong videos, but all flv videos are unplayable (say... anything from youtube). Seems like it has audio problems. If I disable sound for them, they play just fine.

Just downloaded a random video from youtube, it does not have any problems that would make it unplabable: http://youtube.com/watch?v=BPFfSO8xozI

I thought that they might have started encoding videos in a different way (for example encode video with H.264), but it does not seem to be the case.

Seems like it has audio problems.
Yes, audio has problems on OS2008. For example using alsa driver for output in mplayer results in choppy and unplayable playback. Using sdl results in a slight audio/video sync issues. Using esd seems to be ok, but it consumes more cpu resources than other audio drivers. So audio output is suboptimal at the moment and can be improved, but there's nothing fatal.

If I disable sound for them, they play just fine.
Most videos that are too heavy for playback in realtime, can be played fine with audio disabled (in slow motion). But I have yet to find such flv files (that is too cpu intensive) on youtube.com

With apologies to experienced users, I have searched this site and the internet and just do not understand where to find the CORRECT version of MPLAYER to use on the N810. If someone would be so kind as to just give me a link and/or point me to the right version of it it to install I would be grateful.

I'm using version 1.0rc1-maemo.23.n8x0.

Ahh.. the version might be the issue then. I've been using mplayer from teh extras-devel. Could you please upload mplayer to extras?

Ahh... I just checked. I had .23.

However, I have no idea why, but seems like my configuration is using the wrong settings by default. When I used -vo sdl -ao esd, playing flv was perfectly smooth.
