Hi,
How does one go about creating a map repository ? I use google street/sat in europe and has never let me down. But google map doesnt have street maps for some (actually most ) cities in India.

Yahoo maps covers more cities than google and importantly the cities i am planning to visit

For example look at this one
http://in.maps.yahoo.com/#?lat=11.01...ore%2C%20india

is there any way I can add a repository called Yahoo India ? Please do forgive me if it is a lame question.

I assume you're using Maemo Mapper. If so, read the help file about managing repositories. You can add any URL that has maps, but you have to do some special formatting of the URL. This is explained in the help file.

I took a quick look at Yahoo Maps India. It uses a tile system kind-of similar to Google Maps, but they use positive and negative tile numbers (where 0, 0 is the intersection of the equator and the prime meridian) instead of Google's positive-numbers-only (0, 0 is the upper-left corner of the world).

In other words, it won't work with Yahoo Maps at the moment, but I should be able to make a relatively quick mod to Maemo Mapper to support Yahoo Maps. It should work for all versions of Yahoo Maps, too, not just Yahoo Maps India.

I'll work on that this weekend.
