Okay I know that this has been discussed before. I searched the forum and everything. I tried the solutions given in those forums.
I cannot get Xkbd to install on my n800. Its missing xlib dependency.
I tried red pill mode and it seems to do absolutely nothing. (meaning I still cannot find xlib)
Anything else I can try?
I realize this is only tangentially connected to games but I want it to play dosbox games.
can someone please help me.
Thanks.

If you install Rubybox from the Application Manager, that should get you Xkbd installed as well.

Post if you have any problems.

I have ruby box installed. I just uninstalled and reinstalled it and I have no way of choosing to enable or choose a layout for xkbd in it. Nothing works. Am I missing something?

Yeah, you need to log in to Ukki's server and download the keyboards.

Minimize Rubybox and then click on preferences.

For the Address it's
nakkiboso.com

Also enter in your nickname.

From there you can use the download feature.

Rubybox

Okay I thought I had it fixed. I did not set the location. I have now set a location for an enable keyboard layout, and still nothing. Any ideas? what am I missing?

Open up X Terminal and type
xkbd

See if anything pops up.

If not, you can download the dependencies here:
http://pupnik.de/xkbd.html

I think the only way I got the dependencies installed was something like
dpkg -i filename.deb

If you go to the control panel and choose display, change the settings for it and that should do the trick.

If you installed Flipclock, I had the same problem (except I didn't have your root privileges trouble).
