For some reason my 770 running 2007he stopped displaying the keyboard when I'm in text fields. Pressing the hardware 'enter' button doesn't cycle through the regular and large on-screen keyboards anymore either; it just produces a carriage return.

How do I get it back?

I need to fix it ASAP because I'm leaving the country tomorrow morning and really need to get it working again before then!
Thanks in advance

Bump? My 770 WSODd while I was in Prague, right when I really needed it... so I've been out of commission for a while. I got my replacement from Nokia and reinstalled the boot menu to boot off of my MMC.

So now I'm still stuck with the problem:
The on screen keyboard won't display.
I do have a USB keyboard but can't use it all the time. I am a linux noob but am a programmer, so if you can give me some debugging tips I can certainly follow them.

Thanks

With an app open, try pushing the Dpad button (the button in the middle of the directional pad.)

Actually, last night after a reboot, it spontaneously started working again.
Prior to that, though, the center dpad button didn't work either.
Next time it happens I'll putty into it and do a dmesg. I'd forgotten that command until now. Maybe the output will show something useful.

One thing I did during my last session on the 770 was to uninstall the GPE calendar and contacts. Running apt-get -f install showed that they had some missing dependencies and subsequently failed, so I decided to just uninstall them. I suppose it's possible that they were causing a problem, but who knows.

There's no sense in speculating now, but if it happens again, I'll be sure to post a dump of dmesg and/or let you know how I resolve it.
