I have OS2008 on my N800. I want to listen to music on wireless headphones. Ive been scouring this site and here is what I see so far. Something called A2DP exists and it can work with some bluetooth headphones, but using it will absorb all of the N800 CPU power and it apparently only works with kagu music player. A2DP is now in the OS2008, but not enabled, and we can test while we are waiting for future enhancements.

What alternatives?

Is there a stereo bluetooth that is not A2DP? What kind of headphones do I need?

Lacking a bluetooth alternative, what if I got an FM transmitter for an IPOD or other 3.5mm plug? I could get some FM headphones.

From what I can tell here, there is not a good alternative. Am I reading you correctly?

If something works, let us all know!

There are plenty of alternatives. Here's one:

I have the Motorola S9 headset which is pretty amazing. You are correct about the A2DP issues, but you can always get one of these in the meantime:

Just plug it into the headphone jack on your IT and bluetooth away.

P.S. I just noticed that you're only 30 minutes from where I'm sitting right now (if you're at KU right now, that is).

Both Sony and Jabra make adapters. The Jabra a120 is probably the best bet. It plugs into the headphone jack and transmits the output via bluetooth in stereo, using no resources on the N8x0 at all. I use it on all sorts of devices, and the only requirement is that the device have a headphone jack. It pairs with my bluetooth stereo headset easily. I also have a Sony unit, which works as either a transmitter or receiver, settable by a switch. It requires a wall wart, though, and I generally use it as a receiver, connected to my home stereo, and I can stream music to it via bluetooth from anything, using the Jabra or A2DP from a bluetooth device.
