Hi all!

I just updated my N800, via the Nokia Internet Tablet Software Update Wizard (I allowed it to download the update from Nokia), to the latest iteration of OS2008. I want to emphasize that this is a fresh install with NO third party applications installed.

When I try to install any application that is Nokia Certified, (FM Radio, Media Streamer, etc.) I get a MD5Sum mismatch error on the Nokia Certified repository. See Log extract below:

hildon-application-manager 2.0.2
Failed to fetch http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com...el/Packages.gz MD5Sum mismatch

Couldn't stat source package list http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com chinook/user Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com_certified_dists_chin ook_user_binary-armel_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)

You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

There are no other repositories installed other then those included with the original firmware build. The only configuration completed was the Network configuration in order to get the wifi connection to my inside network. WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON?????!!!???

I flashed the unit back to OS2007 and it finds the Nokia Certified repositories just fine. I flash the unit to OS2008 and I get a bloody MD5Sum mismatch!!!!

Any thoughts on this would be most helpful and I know pretty much nothing about this tablet in terms of trouble shooting.

The repositories are not functioning properly over the past few days due to overuse and lack of bandwidth from what I hear. We need to be patient until either the demand goes down, or Nokia and partners enhance the infrastructure. Sorry- I know it's not what you want to hear. I'd like to get Python Runtime installed so I can do Kagu myself, but I can still play music for now.

try changing the URL to 'repostory'. I did that and was able to get Python easily, along with everything else I needed.

Repository not working?!?! That's an understatement. I've unstalled OS2007 until Nokia gets its collective crap together. Thanks for the "heads up".

I find it odd that the Nokia Certified Repository is hosed though. No FM Radio, No Camera, No Media Streamer, No Skype. OMFG. What a bloody nightmare.

Um, read my above post. I have Media Streamer, Skype, Python, and Wordpy all running 100% on my N800 with OS2008.

I've read your post, however, please note that the word "repository" does not appear in the "Nokia catalogue" Repository

The Nokia certified Repository reads as follows

Catalogue Name: Nokia catalogue
Web Address: http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/certified/
Distribution:
Components: user

Again, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks to Rick and others for offering their opinions on the MD5Sum issue. I actually called Nokia and I walked a third tier tech through the issue. He contacted the repo admin he fixed up the mismatch and he did all this on Christmas Day! Now that's what I call service!

Mind you, I had to convince a first tier support agent, a second tier support agent and an agent supervisor that my N800 was not broken and indeed did NOT need to sent to them, at my expense, for repair and I had to convince all three that the problem lay with Nokia and not user error. What a bloody nightmare.

The only repo that I had to change was the Maemo Extras. The rest worked no problem.

It's pretty straight forward Rick. They (Nokia) identified the issue on their Nokia Certified Repository and fixed it. At this point, I'm of the opinion that this issue is no longer open to debate. Your experience was your own and not that of other users. I do note on your website that you've done some griping of your own about the lack of accessibility of the various Nokia sanctioned repositories so I'm sure you can see why I posted what I did.

I'll reactivate the repository and see if it's fixed. I know several other users that had the same issue.

No worries, though, seems we all have our apps and are happily enjoying our newly updated tablets!
