I just visited the Maemo.org Applications site and noticed that an application called peekaboo was in the Fresh category. Its basically a live video streamer. Looks pretty cool. I wanted to try it, however, while application manager says its installable, when I try to install it, it complains unable to install. Has anybody else tried to install this application? And if so, have they experienced the same problem?

I had the same problem....the download manager would show that the file size to be around 3mb but it is actually larger. I finally downloaded it to laptop and moved the file to one of my sd cards. Once the sd card was placed in the 800, i went to file manager, found the file and clicked on it. The app manager kicked in and it installed then without a hitch. I then moved the file off of the sd card and on to the 800's internal memory. The app works just as described.. I typed in the ip address[into my browser search on my laptop] that shows at the bottom of the stream window when the app is loaded and the camera is on. you must have a stream going out from the device before you can open the web site to view the stream. Note...you will not see a rendering of the stream in the app [peekaboo] window on the 800. Evidently they did not get that far in the development. Good luck..it works great....oh..one more thing, there is no audio..it is just the vid that streams.

Nice to hear you like it We are planning to do a single click install for it so installing it would be easier

I get the N800 streaming /w it, but I can't get the page up on my laptop screen for the viewing URL (even using a different IP). My friend's imac w/ safari gets the message he needs a particular viewer plug-in (but at least he get the page). My secondary 770 gets the page, and a graphic frame in it w/ a question mark.

What browser plug-in is needed? WMP? something else?

You should watch it with windows computer with wmp11 installed..earlier version might work also. Linux users can watch the stream also if vlc plugin for the browser is installed. You can watch stream from mac osx too with flip4mac WMV plugin.

I'm using WMP10 and works fine.

So, do you directly type the given peekaboo URL into the "open URL" option of WMP?? neither that nor using IE seems to bring the stream up.

Dear LAD,

Make sure that you have the peekaboo app up and running on the n8** and that it is streaming, then in IE, type in the address shown on the n8** into the search bar and the web page should load and the stream buffer and play. If you open the web page on your computer before the stream has been started in the n8**, it will not work..

give that a try.
