How much free memory has to be left on the Device (N800) for letting a proper function of the tablet?
Due to installing a lot of application it is almost full
Is there a possibility to install the applications on the external memory card insread of on the system? how?

Yes, it is possible. A search of the Forum will reveal plenty of threads detailing how.

it might even be in the Wiki...

I've already checked the wiki but things there about the 770 amd not about the 800, and as an experienceless of those system I don't know if I can count on those steps , might cause damage?

So please, If I can get an answer (prefer step by step, about the 800)

Thanks

Look into cloning the os to internal memorycard. See instructions here.

In short: You can copy the OS to the internal card and boot from there. It won't modify your old installation and you can still use it if you want. The cloning will get you almost as much memory as you have on the card and also makes the device faster. You can also switch the card to another device if you happen to break yours, install a bootloader to boot from the card and continue where you left off.

I think this is something every N800 owner should do.

I too wonder about the memory issue (my two Patriot 8 GB Class 6 SDHCs haven't arrived yet, so I only have a 256MB card in it.).

When I tried to connect to a Windows Vista PC share for transferring pictures, my N800 would lock up tight. I figure it didn't have enough memory to even load the directory tree from the Vista PC since there were so many directories and files.

When my extra memory comes in I'll retry the transfer and see if I have any success.
