I'm looking for a tiny application that will add an icon to my status bar (where the battery, volume and other icons are) that will tell me my sticky key state. What I mean is I want that to show me whether I have shift, caps, Fn, Fn caps, or any other character modifier turned on. What bothers me is that you cannot see the status of these things unless you have Word Completion or Next Word Prediction turned on. But when you have these turned on you get an annoying white bar popping up at the bottom of the screen any time you put the cursor in a text input field. So if there is any way to make a status bar icon which tells you which sticky key state you are in it would be a wonderful help. Also it would be very nice if you could just have a small pop up tell you when you change states and linger for a bit, that way you'd still know in full screened apps as well as others.

Can it be done?

Good suggestion.

Just want to give it a bump.

Wonder how one could get more statusbar applets packed into the available space...

I'm thinking about that too and it seems to me that combining the battery/sound/brightness applets is a very good option (if someone does it - not me, since i don't have much experience with maemo and gtk).

Something like this:

And maybe finger friendly level change
