Has everyone given up on AV out from the n800 or is someone still working on it?

The closest I've seen to AV out is using VNC on a comp, but this is not at all what I was looking for. I was hoping that someone had figured out how to get a USB2VGA or AV from the head phone jack to work but unfortunately this does not seem to be the case.

I saw this written in another forum a couple months ago and it gave me some hope
The OMAP processor in the N800 includes an encoder capable of composite video, S-Video, and
dual VGA display controllers, one of which is used for the built-in screen. Nokia's
specifications list the headphone port as an "A/V" port, so perhaps the new model will expose
at least the TV output.
The 810 disappointed me to this extent but I was hoping AV out isn't a lost cause. Ive thought of some very round about ways of getting AV out but they cause me to shudder merely thinking of them.

Is this difficult or simply impossible? Is anyone working on this?

Whoa, the n800 would be great with this feature. I think it will be included in a wireless form two or more generations from now, but as far as I know it won't work. I HOPE someone proves me wrong there!

The best solution would be just to plug into the headphones and out to a TV while running some kind program. My question is, does anyone know if this is even possible to do?

You'd still need a ring (or is it a tip?) on the 1/8" jack to carry video.

edit: Nevermind, it seems to fit now. Is there any software that someone could write that would allow the tablet to go into video out mode or something? Shouldn't be that hard should it?

Ah alas then that scratches the headphone to TV connection idea. However there are still other alternative and perhaps viable methods such as a mini-USB2VGA connector or AV to mini-USB. My understanding is that the USB does not support host mode, however i dont know if host mode is required for our purposes.

Another alternative might be to send video via wifi(or maybe bluetooth?) wirelessly to some device connected to a TV.

Right now Im trying to figure out what the hardware allows and then go from there.

i believe that it is more of a hardware issue than a software issue. I can imagine that if there was some way to put video through the headphone jack, which i assume is linked only to the sound card, somebody would have found it by now, or found something extra in there, more than just audio. the usb or the bluetooth could work, and there are ways to enable usb host mode, which would be needed to use a usb video adapter. and this video adapter
(link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815118301) ported for linux and adapted to be plugged into a mini-b usb port would work

I'm confused as of why would one want to output the N810's display to a TV? could you possibly let us know what you're trying to achieve? If it's to play games or movies why not hooking up a real computer to a tv? If it's to do work, then vnc should work fine. So really, I don't see the possible application here, please clue me in.
