HI! I searched the forum but did not find anything with the above mentioned keywords, so I decided to post a new topic regarding this.

I noticed that onto the last maemo mapper version there is a field (into the route discharge window) containing the gpx services address, which is changeable.

So my guess is: is there any way to have the instructions in my native language (italian) instead of english? Google Maps is giving me them in italian... It's not a problem for me to drive with the english instruction but, for example, my wife doesn't know english...

All the above despite flite pronounce will be at least "humorous" but we have onscreen indications

Good idea. I've modified the GPX Driving Directions Web Service to accept a new, "Top Level Domain" argument. This argument determines which version of Google Maps the directions are derived from.

For example, specifying "com" means to use "maps.google.com", which returns all of its results in English. Specifying "it" means to use maps.google.it, which returns results in Italian.

The "Download Routes" dialog in Maemo Mapper allows you to specify the "Source URL", where the default is:

http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi?saddr=%s&daddr=%s

You can add the "tld" parameter to specify the top level domain to the web service. For example, to use Italian, add "&tld=it" to the end of that Source URL, so that it looks like this:

http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi?saddr=%s&daddr=%s&tld=it

Of course, you can tweak the "it" part to reflect whichever language you want to use.

Keep in mind that the value that should be passed is not a language or locale code (like "en" or "it_IT"). It is a top-level domain like "com" or "co.uk" or "it" or "fr". In many cases, the top-level domain is the same as the language code, but not always.

Let me know if you have any problems with it.

Hi! I read the message only now (I've been out for work a couple of days, in which of course I used MM ), and I'll try this as soon as I return home (I am in office now).

Thanks a lot!

Today also I had a 250+250 km trip and works like a charm! The only thing is that the char ' (like in "I'll") is downloaded on the instructions like an /047 or someting like this, and flite does the rest...

After having reinstalled MM on OS2008, I cannot use the tld parameter...

I get an "I/O Error" message whenever I add the &tld=it at the end of the standard configuration line. Did anyting change in the GPX service?

Go to http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi (on your tablet) and try your route there (with the it TLD). It seems to work for me when I test a route from Berlin, Germany, to Paris, France. If your route works on the web, but not in Maemo Mapper, then that sounds like a problem....

Seems to behave that way... On your site no problem, got the instruction list with italian directions, tried again in MM but got the same error

EDIT: Nevermind, downloaded the latest version and it works! Didn't remember which version I installed previously, but should guess it was the first official OS2008 (around mid-december maybe?)

Thanks for your help!
