Is there a way to save apps from app manager
to a memory card and run from there?

Although I am not 100% sure, I believe if there was, it would involve heavy manipulating in Xterm. Hope you have experience with Linux...
(might want to search, I think there are some threads about this)

It's certainly possible, but I'm not sure anyone's come up with a particularly "easy" way.

Booting from MMC is probably your best bet for now (meaning *everything* gets installed to MMC).

I've been thinking of writing a script that installs files to MMC and puts links to those files on the internal memory, I think linking should work okay for most applications.

It'll likely be necessary to either partition the card or install a loopback filesystem as FAT doesn't support unix permissions/ownership/etc.
