Hi all,

Not that it really matters, but does anyone know how the 770 "knows" the cover is on so it can switch off the display, etc?

I've been unable to find any sort of mechanical switch, so I'm assuming it's something magnetic/induced...

yes.. it's a magnet... it's on the left side of the unit cover.
this has been reported in one of the first posts on the forum...


btw, the battery cover also has a magnet. it's the little square on the inside.

if you remove the battery cover, you can turn the screen on/off by holding it's magnet near the "home" button.

LOL,

I had wondered the same thing a while back. I thought it was a light sensor or something
