Hi, I have found this forum fantastic in gaining knowledge of my new N800, thanks to all.

I have been able to successfully connect my N800 (OS2008) to my wireless network at work, through the proxy and into the web, skype.
However there are things I am unable to do. For example when I attempt to "Refresh my application list", I recieve the error message "407 Proxy Access Denied" and I don't seem to be able to access Internet radio streams, weather updates or repository downloads.

Is this likely to be part of the office firewall etc that I have to accept, or are there ways of correcting/circumventing?

Thanks
Howard

Radios which are on non standard ports may be blocked by your proxy. Or if the software you are using for radio does not use proxy settings, you hit a firewall.
But for application manager (which uses the proxy settings) it is pure http afaik. So it could be that the destination websites are blacklisted.
For application manager, you should take the repositories and check them one by one in a browser,
example try to access this website from the browser:
http://repository.maemo.org/pool

Thanks free, on the tablet, browsing this site brings up a proxy authentication window which has my user name and password saved. Once it's accepted, this doesn't come back up until you close the browser.
Once accepted, these repositories are free to view.
I tried running the application manager with the browser open, to no avail.

Thanks

Then they are not blacklisted but your proxy seems to not like proxy chaining (*maemo.org is running behind a proxy itself, the others should be fine, so you could go in the menu and disable these ones and retry)
I know once such "proxy"
You are running MS Proxy by any chance (bad chance would be more appropriate since this is not a real proxy, just a strange stuff)

If yes, I'm scared that there is no solution.

Maybe your company has a SOCKS proxy?

The filtering program is "WebMarshal"
Unfortunately, it is having this affect on all of the 15+ repositories I have listed, so it may not be the proxy chaining issue.

Arrh well, At least I can browse!

Looks like you need to authenticate on the proxy.
Very strange for a normal website (repository.maemo.org/pool)

Maybe ask your IT why you can browse this website?

Hi there,

I have exactly the same issue in my company like Mechdude. The proxy in our company needs authentication - otherwise it rejects connection to the internet.
Unfortunately there is no possibility to set proxy authentication settings (username and password) in the WLAN connection settings in proxy-tabsheet.
When using the browser the first time after connecting an authentication-popup comes up where it is possible to fill-in username and password for proxy. After that browsing is possible to each web-page.

But no other application can use the internet because there is no standard possibility to fill-in username and password for the proxy.

Is there any possibility to save username and password in a config-file or something else ???
