For carying the Internet Tablet in a bag or backpack, which might drop on the floor or get hit by an elbow, what kind of protection would you suggest?

Nokia ships a soft bag. Is it enough?

PDair and Brando (are they the same company?) have leather cases for N810. I used the PDAir book type leather case with my clamshell Zaurus and liked it, the Z was never harmed but the clamshell form factor protects the screen better than the Nokia is.

For N800 and 770 PDair/Brando have aluminum and silicon cases? Are they any good?

Update: Contacted PDAir:
Regret for we're no plan of Nokia's N810 Internet Tablet Aluminum Metal Case.
Any success with cases made for other devices?

As recommended on this forum, I use a Nintendo DS case. Fits perfectly, gives a little bit of protection.

I´ve contacted Proporta about their plans about N810 (specially about their alu-case). They´ve answered that, althought it´s in early developement stage they definitelly have plans about 'porting' some of their accesories (alu case among them) to the N810. The metal cover of this leather case should be enough protection for the screen, the hand crafted leather part of the case is very good too. Far better than PDAir/Brando ones (though far more expensive of course)

I was looking at a pelican or otter-box case. Water tight, foam inserts, maybe enough room to also include an accessory or two.

I just tried my Otter case that I bought for my HTC Hermes with my 800 and it's a perfect fit. 1/4" side/side clearance and <1/8" top/bottom clearance. I've had this case in daily use for a year or so and it's really a good product.
Model 2000. I got it here.

PDAir shows three cases.

One is a pouch that you have to take the N810 out of, before you use it or drop it.
Might as well use a sock. Next...

The second is a leather bra with a snap-open cover that,
when open, appears to completely cover the keyboard. WTF?
When closed, it locks the keyboard in. Look, it's an N800.
No screen protection open or closed. Next...

The third looks interesting. Is there clear plastic over the keyboard?
It must disable the tilt-back stand.

This is a hard bugger to protect. Stuff comes out of it everywhere.

I finally chose the Hama S2 Nylon bag, which is available for 10 EUR plus shipping. It's soft with front and back enforced by something like cardboard. The bag is slightly bigger then the N810 and you have to remove the Tablet from the bag to do anything with your Tablet.
