SciTE has already been ported to Maemo and runs very nice under OS 2007: https://garage.maemo.org/projects/scite/

But on OS 2008 it has a few problems, such as not using the default (Matchbox?) keyboard, and dialog boxes going nuts getting big and small rapidly making saving files nearly impossible.

I'm not much of a developer, but have spent a few hours trying to get something working. The source code builds under Scratchbox with Maemo 4.0.1, but has the same problems as the older build.

SciTE is an awesome text editor that has built-in IDE support for many different languages. Here's a screenshot I made last week before I upgraded from OS 2007 to OS 2008.
