YAHAGP = Yet Another Half Arsed Game Port

See, I can't even spell

(Sorry ukki, my marketing skills are gonna stay crap as ever).

Tile World here:
http://www.muppetlabs.com/~breadbox/software/tworld/

Tile World is an game engine for the old game (before my time?) Chips Challenge.

This tar comes with tworld maemo **** port & CCLP2. An community created game data files. Of course, if you still have original chips.dat, that should work. Untar to root. I would use dh_make but it sucks *** & ****. PyPackager I think is great but I'm too lazy.

To developers who want to fix this (to proper ones, not tools like me)
Code cleanly compiles in scratchbox. Sorting out directory structure for Tile World is a tiny bit long so you may just wanna fix tworld binary and use data files from this?

I just changed it so it loads in fullscreen automatically. Unfortunately this has the effect of making you kill it with load applet or kill all as once you minimise; there's no going back

Bugs:
- Minimising Means your game is gone.
- Quit is done by minimising and killall
- Lots of buttons aren't implemented. It has only the moving basics, d-pad only works on my N800 and dpad in.
- with XKBD, you can do more like entering passwords to jump back to the level.

If someone fixes this, then please post your modified changes. If someone ported this previously and had it working, please reply to me so I can feel like a knob and delete this thread.

Hehe, true but I've had a bad day . I've *'ed the one big swear word that wasn't censored.

A bit more elaboration please (console msgs, which part do you see in the ui (level selection etc))? I've managed to successfully get into a game. I'm sure the only dependency is SDL.

dunno... never checked what is censured and what is not. ...and not planning to

I see the game shrunk into a window (with the top & left borders from the desktop); I see the opening menu, yet no input works (for me at least...)

lol

Thats odd, let me check if I uploaded the right tar. it's supposed to start fullscreen.

I just redownloaded and installed, it's the right one. The game is actually pretty much playable with the dpad. All I need to do is to fix the exit button, that's the best I can do with the port. For resuming levels, xkbd works beautifully.

that might be it... never installed xkbd. Actually, I still don't need it since I almost always (not right now, as you coulda have guessed) carry a bluetooth keyboard.

xkbd isn't a requirement . It's only needed to resume games.

Any other reports?

Haven't tried it yet, but minimizing does not mean never getting it back. You can do
Code:
matchbox-remote -next
to cycle through windows.

For me, that's actuated by Power -> d-pad-left for next window, or Power -> dpad-right for previous window.

Wish you were using powerlaunch yet?

But you should be able to run it from osso-statusbar-cpu...

Ahh, great tip!

Thanks .

Nah :P, for me Powerlaunch removes the useful stuff too :P. Also, I can't program so its a bit too extreme for me. Plus I use my phone for my music, I don't really like the music playing capabilities on the N800.

Although, do you know if powerlaunch can load "mce modules"? Probably solve the alarm problem...
