I have noticed that the N900 VNC server (x11vnc) seems to crash upon getting an incoming call. I'm not sure if it crashes because of the change in device orientation, or because of something disruptive that happens during an incoming call.

Below is the text that comes up in the console when it crashes (debug dump):

HTML Code:

Perhaps, but is that reason enough to kill x11vnc? Other programs seems to continue running fine when getting a call.

It is because the change of device orientation.
You can encapsulate it into a loop to force it to restart after crash (of course you will have also to restart the VNC connection.)

Is the maemo version of x11vnc still 0.9.3? That is 3 years old, I think some XRANDR bugs have been fixed since then.

If you can't get a newer version, try adding the "-xrandr" option and see if that helps.

It would be super nice if someone with the proper skills updated the Maemo version of x11vnc.

install the normal x11vnc from repository (0.9.3) and unpack the attached file like this: tar -xvzf x11vnc.tgz -C /usr ... this will update to 0.9.12 and fix the crashes when rotation ...

Please do not forget the -C /usr in the tar command or you will end up with 2 x11vnc in two different paths ...

i could not attache the file because it was over 448K, so i am uploading it to http://rapidshare.com/files/455735997/x11vnc.tgz
