As described in this post, I installed a Khmer Unicode font on my N810 but the characters are not displayed properly.
Since Pango is what enables desktop Linuxes to display subscripted Khmer consonants and vowels whose display precedes the consonant(s) they are pronounced after, I wonder: is Pango in OS2008 a module that can be upgraded (or added)?
A similar situation occurs with Windows XP; one must have a recent-enough version of usp10.dll installed, and XP does not come with it at all. (Nor does Microsoft make it available directly, but that's another story.) Simple installation (or even installing an app like Google Earth that includes usp10.dll) fixes the problem.
If it's not Pango, where does the problem lie?
Thanks,
Roger
