OK I got an N810 with OS2008 and I am trying to update to the new Diablo update. I'm not using the cable that came with my nokia since I can't find it. When I try and use the flasher it says it can't find my tablet even though I have USB icon on my tablet. If I unplug the tablet from the computer it just loads the OS. I'm have the tablet cloned to my internal card also.

Still can't get it to work, anyone have any ideas I'm not sure why my computer can't see my tablet. I wonder if usb to micro usb adaptor I have is for like charging only or something. Maybe it doesn't have all the wires in it.

on my macbook running tiger my n810 has to be off and not on a charger before i flashed
the steps i took were download image (duh) open up the 770 flasher , drag the image to the flasher wait until it says something like nothing attached and then attach the n810 to the usb and turn it on. like magic it flashes...

on the command line in tiger similar instructions- there is a command line instruction in the monster thread in the news category

i would assume on a linux box similar

in windows- i do not have a clue

I have a similar problem except that I have currently bricked my tablet. I used a dealextreme CA-101 cable. Obviously a copy, not an original. I presume there is something in the Nokia cable that is different from the copies.

All I get now is the white screen and the Nokia logo. It won't do anything else (except dim after a while). This happened during the flasing process, and I got an error messge about the USB cable being disconnected or something.

I have a friend who will hopefully bring her Nokia cable in tomorrow and I'll see if I can make any progress.

Any comments that might help us?

For anyone interested, I was able to flash the OS with an original Nokia cable after apparently bricking my N810 (see previous post).

The lesson here is don't attempt to flash the O/S with anything but an OEM cable.

That's not a "bricking". A "bricked" tablet behaves exactly like a brick (i.e., it shows no properties of being a working electronic device ). No lights, no sounds, no colors, no response.

If your tablet tries to boot and restarts, it's not bricked, it's in a reboot loop.

Right! I suppose if it gets demoted to 'flashlight' then it is not a brick. Thanks GA for the clarification.

The procedure I use to flash my unit is this:

- turn off the device
- plug the charger in the electric socket
- plug in the cable (both ends)
- run the flasher application on the PC
- plug the charger in the tablet

this way I don't have to press the home button (but it's always better to have it pressed).

I think, however, your problem may be related to the micro USB adaptor.
Is it a Micro B adaptor ?

Andrewfblack, did you get it to work? Were you using a non-OEM cable?

anidel, on both cables (OEM and copy) the microUSB end seems to work fine when I use it with external devices such as card readers.

As mentioned, the OEM cable worked, brought my tablet back to life and flashed correctly so I think there is some internal or pinout design difference between the two cables.

Well, I have an 810, and I have the original nokia micro-usb cable, and also a generic cable that I bought on ebay for a couple of bucks.
Both work fine, for all possible purposes, with the 810.
