Hello, I'm back again with another req. ... an idea for an app that would be greatly useful for research and travel planning, etc. It seeems like it would be simple... a cute little icon in the status bar that when clicked upon would append any highlghted text to a txt file; a line break between each "entry".

Seems it would work great with browser, rss reader, xchat, etc.

Perhaps when you click the icon, you'd get a dropdown menu with some different "scrapbooks" from which youu'd choose the one to append to. Dropdown would also include a settings for customizing filenames and save location.

My commandline podcast player idea mentioned a little while back flopped, but perhaps this idea may catch <grin>

I'm writing something similar, maybe i can include such functionality.

i've been looking for something like this. it would be very useful for us students who would want to pick out important statements in webpages/ebooks for easy review later on. :P

on firefox i use the highlighter plugin, but this could work similarly.

lazuli, since your in a university too, might I suggest zotero for Firefox (desktop/laptop). I use it alot for my research papers.

Bundyo, any chance it could sync with Google Notebook or Evernote?

yes, syncing with Evernote would be very, very useful.

bookmarklets' anyone?

The do work on the NIT, including text selections ( once you figure out how to do the selection ). I have been using them for del.icio.us bookmarks. The ones for google notebook seem like they would work if the site worked on MicroB.

also I do have a project in the pipe that would allow the .note.html files generated in "Notes" to sync with Google Docs.

Hmm thanks! I've been wondering about that myself since most bookmarklets are just javascript calls. So I was thinking if it was worth trying to use my bookmarklets from Firefox in Microb (as bookmarks?) so you'd highlight them then click the bookmark?

Yep, just highlight some text and activate the bookmarklet.

To add them it's easiest to find a "link" to one of them and do the "tap-and-hold" to get the context menu over the link and "Add as Bookmark". At this point you should probably change the name.
