Hello All,
I've had my N800 for just under a year, Its a great device but the build quality is a bit, well, bad. I had one DOA and one fried 2 different chargers (the included one and a Nokia replacement). I thought I had a good one until the other day when I plugged my headphone in. The mini jack connection inside the N800 came loose and pushed back into the device by about 2mm. To my knowledge I haven't abused my N800 (hell its not left the house since I finished uni back in July).
Granted I don't use the headphones that much, is it worth returning the device to Nokia or the shop I got it from? Would they just turn around and say its all my fault? Even though there not a scratch or mark on the device. Is it just normal wear and tear?
I'll try and take some photos of the damage when I find my camera,

Wow. My N800 has been dropped once which caused the faceplate to come off but other than that I've seen nothing of the stuff you've discussed. Perhaps you just got a bad unit. It happens. Mass production.

IMHO this usually means a bad soldering job on the headphones jack, it's worth returning because it may be that not just the jack is poorly soldered in your unit so other defects may develop over time. It really depends on the guys you return to, but if you clearly explain that it became loose on normal usage with the apropriate headphones they should accept it...

BTW a friend of mine *droped* his n800 and it fell on the headphone jack (headphones were conected) from pretty high and it didn't become loose...
