My n800 is slightly over one year old, and the battery performance has recently dropped. I now get only 1.5 to 2 hrs of continuous usage from it (i.e. surfing or watching video) after a full charge. My experience with other Lithium-Ion batteries is that they last at least 2 years before declining.

Note: I haven't installed any new applications recently and didn't upgrade to Diablo.

I'm curious how long other n800 owners' batteries lasted before they noticed a performance drop.

There is a good thread on this with a lot of data.
I don't care to look it up.

I am not willing to spend hours seeing how long my battery lasts, but my impression is that my original N800 battery is not lasting as long, and here's a warning for those of you trying to decide on whether to buy cheap Hong Kong knockoffs or authentic Nokia batteries -- my genuine Nokia battery seems to be deteriorating faster than the knockoffs. So, please, don't take a chance when buying a battery -- in the interest of safety, buy disreputable knockoffs!

I did search the forum first, so any good thread on n800 battery life must have been well disguised.

Typical usage is not the same for everyone, so you'd need to have some kind of benchmark+batterystatus log to do a comparison. But watching movies seems to drain the batteries more than other uses.

He may possibly have been referring to this thread ->> http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=22796

FWIW I found diablo to improve battery life considerably but at the cost of a non-functional default email application (modest).
YMMV.......

Yep, under the latest Diablo battery life has tremendously improved.

My recent test of continuous web surfing with about 40% brightness:

Nokia battery: > 6 hours
Chinese ebay battery: 5 hours

I didn't test watching videos, but that should be much shorter. MP3 listening with switched off display should be longer, though.

Nothing scientific (and no surprise) but I only recently realised just how much more battery life I get when off-line. In future I intend to download any long pages for off-line reading.

BTW: Check if your connection power setting and drop it to 10mW if your router signal is strong and reliable.
