App manager keeps on hanging up when I try to refresh the list. What can I do, in xterm im assuming, to see what repo (s) are causeing the problem so I can disable them

Have you checked Application Manager's log? To see it:
  1. Launch Application Manager.
  2. Open Application Manager's menu.
  3. Open the "Tools" sub-menu.
  4. Tap "Log..."

Or "apt-get update" with X-Terminal. Recently I had this situation and it was the debfarm repository causing the problem.
