Well, for those in the USA, that's still about standard price for what we've been paying. Now apparently there's a thread around here with some info on how to get one for $150 from Nokia's store.

Sadly, at this point step one is, "Enter your time machine," and I seem to have misplaced mine.

Hurray,

For once I have been lucky to get the 150$ deal in time (175 after tax and shipping)
It probably means that the n810 successor will be out soon though

Long gone I'm afraid, certainly in my part of the UK.

You lucky sod! I have scoured my local PC worlds on several occasions, including last month.

Yes, long gone. But I managed to get one of those £79 N810s. PC World must have been desperate for the cash flow! Until I heard about the £79 offer in this forum, I hadn't even realised PC World stocked the tablets.

I phoned my local store and the manager assured me that they still had two in stock. The store is only two miles away, so I went straight over.

By then, they only had one in stock. One of the staff had bought one in the meantime. Neither the sales droid nor the store manager could find the other one for about twenty minutes, until it turned up in the desk drawer of one of the other sales droids. Hmm, not sure what was going on there.

They didn't want to sell it to me, but as I had seen what was going on I don't think they felt they could say no.

So I got the £79 N810, but it's not all sweetness and light. The touch screen just doesn't have quite the same perfect response as my old N800 did. Sometimes the cursor position just jumps around a little.

Sure, I could take it back for a refund. But then I'd have to spend a whole lot more on something else, so I'm living with it.

Regards,
Roger
