By clearing the memory and installing a new OS your talking about using the Nokia Internet Tablet Software Updater? Because I tried this a couple times and it still doens't want to work...

I even tried to manually erase the map data manually, which I couldn't. Any idea's anybody? It's starting to be frustrating not being able to use the map feature... This is my first nokia and I hope it's not an example of their quality.

I am running into a similar problem. For me, it seems to be a hardware problem, and I will probably need to send my tablet back to Nokia for R&R. I have only had it for about a month, and I have an N800 in excellent condition after about two and a half years of hard use.

My guess is that at the least, your memory card is corrupted. In my case, I think that the whole USB interface -- with that wonderful new USB connector -- is not working.

The first thing you should do, I think, is fire up your File Manager and see if it shows your memory card at all, and whether you can reformat it. The second step might be to attach your N810 to a computer and see if you can find the memory card then.

Other people will probably have further suggestions.

If it's an N810, the partition table may be oversize and you'll need to fix it. The data for "Map" is known to become corrupted on occasion. Back when I was playing with the application (November 2007), corrupt data would cause it to crash on start, I don't know what the symtoms are these days, but if the data has become corrupted you'll need to delete the "Map" data from the internal card.

It's not over yet! I can't download any maps. When I click on "map" it opens fine but is blank because there is no map downloaded. So I go to file and click on "map." When I click "download map," Network error. Please retry later appears. If I hit the download button again it will try and start downloading and then end up saying "failed to download map." what gives?

Hi,

I also have the "XX files failed to download" problem, but only with Google Satellite. Google Maps and all other repositories work fine.

I´ve already re-installed Mapper, moved the Maps directory to a large internal card, with no result.

I´m using an N800 with OS2008 and Mapper 2.6.2.

Any new ideas?. Thanks.
