So I finally managed to use the rotate script on my nokia n800, but I was a little disappointed when I discovered that the on-screen keyboards were not usable due to the rotation (especially the larger finger-friendly one) ...

So now I'm looking for a solution (another keyboard or maybe a script?) that will let me type while having my screen rotated.

Any suggestions?

a BT keyboard or a usb keyboard with an OTG host cable (adapter) should to the trick.
