So, we just put out new Mer Q5 & Q7 -testing- images on http://wiki.maemo.org/Mer/Releases/0.14testing7
And for those of you who dare to try them, even though it might bring about doomsday:
I'd like to ask you to comment on as new users to the Maemo platform (and Mer), what problems you see, what interaction issues you have, what applications would be desirable out of box, what control panels you'd want, or just plain bug reports.
The WiFi is not working out of box, if you want USB networking see http://wiki.maemo.org/USB_networking#Debian (if you have a Debian or Ubuntu box), and http://wiki.maemo.org/USB_networking...t_as_a_gateway - In the examples use 192.168.2.1 instead of 192.168.2.14 and 192.168.2.2 instead of 192.168.2.15
Tablet might need a "sudo route add default gw 192.168.2.1" and editing nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf to get fully online.
Anyway, welcome to the maemo.org community (and talk!) - take a look around in forums to see what the Maemo platform can offer. Mer releases are normally announced in the Alternatives forum.
Mer discussion also take place in #mer on IRC, irc.freenode.net - also accessible through http://www.mibbit.com
As you go on to other communities, remember to build them around politeness, respect, trust and humility. Be wary of poisonous people and deal with them before they end up killing your community.. Seen it happen to too many IRC channels, forums, open source projects.
