Hi,
I just got my hands on a Nokia 770 from a friend and I'm trying to see how useful this can be. He told me that it's pretty useless now that he has an iPhone. After doing a little web-surfing, I think it would be useful if I could just turn it into a dedicated twitter display, but I can't even get Mauku installed.

I originally updated to 2007HE, but the only version of Mauku I could install was 0.5.5, which did not auto-refresh when new tweets came in. I can't figure out how to install version 0.6.2. I've now installed 2008HE, and I finally see v. 0.6.2. in my Application Manager, but when I try to install it, I get the following message:

Unable to install mauku.
Some application packages required for the installation are missing.
And when I click on Details:

Application packages missing:
libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.12.12-1osso10)
libosso1 (>= 2.16)
libssl0.9.8 (>= 0.9.8e-1)
libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.12.12-1osso10)
libosso1 (>= 2.16)
libssl0.9.8 (>= 0.9.8e-1)
I've tried searching, but frankly all this stuff is a bit confusing to me. I have the following repositories in my Catalog:
Nokia catalog
Nokia catalog (3rd party software)
Nokia System Software Updates
maemo Extras (dist: diablo)
Innologies Package Repository (dist: Chinook)
maemo Extras (dist: )
If someone could point me in the right direction, that'd be great. In the meantime, I'll keep searching the forums. Thanks!

You might try using Red Pill Mode.

The warning on the Red Pill page is a little frightening, but if there aren't any other solutions, I guess I'll be giving it a shot.

It's not so scary. Enabling "Red Pill" allows the tablet (and apps) to see a bunch of hidden software libraries that users don't typically see. After installing Mauku (hopefully), just return to "Blue Pill" and everything will be back to normal.

I tried again with Red Pill activated, but installing anything still reports that those files are missing. I'm going to try with different OS's/re-installing 2008 later today and see if I can't get this going.

According to this tread and this table, libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.12.12-1osso10) is only available in diablo (not chinook ~ OS2008HE)
