Since Maemo 5 is going to be released soon and it is going to be mainstream i am interested in the rate of growth of the platform.

I will try to update the members every month.... lets see if Maemo 5 is really main stream!

I dont think you need to have 5000 post to be considered active. I have come here almost every day since I signed up. I think there is other ways to stay active, such as voting in the council elections, bug reports, etc...

Who mentioned 5000 posts?

I won't speak for others, but mine was a general remark.

Well based on my experience I think we have easily over a hundred members. The idea about postcount wasn't in reponse to you texrat (shoudn't it be calrat?) it was to emphasize the idea that sometimes members lurk and read and that is okay and shouldnt be discounted because that is participating in a quiet way...

Of course there are more than a hundred members, as the OP showed... the issue is one of activity. And of course post creation count isn't the only metric (reading certainly should be, and I doubt it's discounted by anyone) but it tends to be the most apparent.

For a totally unscientific measure (number of people posted on threads started in July), we have 575 active users, 300 (!) of those posted more than 3 messages.

I wonder how many of those 23,486 members can reasonably be assumed to own an NIT.

These polls are inaccurate and generally a waste of time. Sorry, it's just the truth. Plus the forums go through periods of staleness. And as far as Maemo 5/Freemantle goes, based on the images released and the general separation that Nokia has made, I think it's apparent that as a whole they don't care about the community. They are just looking to move units /=

But hey, I welcome being wrong.

Also, soon we'll be able to see how Mer stands-up against Freemantle (and Harmatten).
