Hi.

I'm new to Linux and need help. I'm on n810.

simcity was released open source for linux and called micropolis

here's a link with tgz and xo files:
http://www.donhopkins.com/home/micropolis/

and another with deb files:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/martin-espi.../m/micropolis/

i've been trying to install this with no luck, but i don't know what i'm doing.

should any of these versions work the n810, and how do I install it?

also, i have installed the dos version, but the linux version should run faster without the overhead of dosbox and rubybox. can anyone please offer some guidance?

Thanks.

Hi there,

Looks like ther is no port of this game for the CPU used in N810 (ARM), ther ear only i86 and AMD 64bit ports. So these will not run on the tablet.

Regards,
Glasswalker

If it based on TCL, the answer is clearly 'no'. Way too scary to tackle.

I did not found a single line of Tcl code, but I've seen it using Tk from C (I did not even know that was possible!), and, worst of it: statically building a Tcl interpreter.

And I have been scared for life too: Tcl itself requires an older version of yacc to build :S.

Thanks, everybody.

Looks like I'll be playing the DosBox version for a while.

From the author's homepage, it seems he's been cleaning it and rewriting the worst parts in Python, so we may have a chance in the not-so-far future.

Tk is actually just a UI toolkit for X11, very much like Xt or Motif. Tcl is the real plague though.
