In the off chance I can manage this, I'm going to try making it to the Maemo summit. Just not sure what sort of presentation I should propose, so I'm looking for help.

I'm listing the 3 thoughts I have in this poll as well as soliciting wild ideas from the peanut gallery.

The hard part here is that what I'd like to know about most is the stuff that you can talk the least about: working on the tablets from the inside.

I could actually produce a sanitized version, I'm sure. Question is, how many want to hear it?

I really like option 1. Funny thing is: most corporates (director and above) think they know best, but... Well, you know the story. I think this is important -- and would be very interesting!

Thanks Tim.

Dave Neary cautioned me against what would amount to replicating/distilling my forum chatter... but I'm sure a practical, fact-based "lessons learned" from my ad hoc plunge into this cauldron would be helpful.

For one, I would advise community reps against teasing members...

Oh, and if I get to go: you and I are gonna collaborate on at least one song to share at the time.

The first: "From corporations to communities: responsible and effective engagement "

There is a bridge between Nokia and the community that has not been fully built yet, and it is long overdue. It has to be done, now. One of the elements for Maemo to suceed is a seamless integration between the community, developers, users, and Nokia.

I think your input would help a lot on that.

Well, mrojas, I would call that true when I first barged in here, but Quim Gil, Ragnar, Peter@MaemoMarketing and others have since filled that gap admirably IMO. But again, the process in hindsight could have been better, and the solution to that would be a best practice.

It feels more like it's something that these individuals are doing of their own accord - because they care - more than the company truly getting involved. At least that's how I've seen things to this point.

To provide a rough example of something I would address...

Let's apply the 80/20 rule to the dichotomy between corporate executives of a company and the rank-and-file employees:

Corp Execs

80% restraint against community involvement
20% engagement

Rank-and-file

80% engagement with communities
20% restraint against involvement

This is a natural function of role, and illustrates where each demographic comes from; their perspectives. It's overly simple but drives the point home. The goal, IMO, is driving toward more of a 50/50 situation.

Okay, then if I'm interpreting properly, it's the formality of process/engagement that's lacking or unapparent? Is this something that should be addressed on the .com site in your opinion?
