And so today my N800 has decided to break. Kickstand broken right at the joint. I suppose this is the universes way of telling me to get a N900 when it comes out. I suppose in the meantime I'll have to remove the kickstand 'cause it just looks shabby right now.

That sucks. And it's a shame that part isn't readily available either. Additionally I get greatly annoyed that the kickstand blocks the usb port on my N810, sometimes I get out my torx screwdriver and remove it. Also I find it funny that people with iTouches are making DIY stands while the NITs have stands built-in! Don't think the stand for the N97N900 is that great though =\

EDIT: Oh and I forgot the time when I sat on my N810 (the kickstand anyway as it was open. and it bent and then I had to spend an hour bending it back into a usable shape and it's still not perfectly contoured.

Yeah, mine almost broke as well. Just saved it so its very loose now. Looks like Nokia has a kill-switch on these devices...

Speaking of kickstands...is anyone else concerned about step backwards in kickstand design on the N900?

Every successive NIT has been such a mixed bag of improvements, sidegrades and upgrades and often the more negative "features" seem to come about for no logical, discernible reason. I've owned all three NITs and would love to go from my current N95+N810 solution to a single pocket one, but more than any other Maemo device, I have serious qualms about the N900. Particularly with no timeline or preview of coming attractions from Nokia, I've started to look further afield. I've written up some of my thoughts here:
