Hi

This is not a reply to any posts. Sorry for butting in but I am appealing for help with something that is probably old hat with many in this forum. For me, though, for the last three days I have been shredding my loaf over FBreader.

I want FBreader to recognise and convert my text files and html files in the "books" folder of my memory card.

I can't get FBreader to locate my memory card. In the preferences of FBreader I have /media/mmc1/books. And on my memory card I have the folder "books". I am using maemo 2006 and FB reader 2006.

When I click "add to library" I see /boot and the blue folder followed by a few dots.When I click on this folder the following subfolders appear: .osso, bin, dev, etc, home. When I click home I see fbreader, bookmarks, etc. When I click fbreader it takes me back to .home/user/reader.

I tried using xterm but can't get it to work. I changed the directory
using the CD command to \media\mmc1/books and then typed LS, which listed all the files. How do I get xterm to connect Fbreader to \media\mmc1\books.

I was told that I don't need xterm and that FBreader should read my
memory card automatically, but it doesn't do so. Perhaps the problem lies with the path I wrote in the "preferences: is there something else I could try besides /media/mmc1/books. I also tried \media\mmc1\books. As I know little programming, I don't understand why in some paths the slash is backward and others the slash is forward.

I read that one could put a file manually into FBreader. But I can't see how I could do that if there is no way of getting into FBreader's library to paste the files.

If nothing works, would it be silly to uninstall the 2006 version of the 770 as well as the 2006 version of FBreader and install the 2005 versions of each?

Raphael, you should probably have created a new thread, or found one that's about FBreader and appended to it.

Chances are no one who knows the answer is going to find your question here, in a topic with another subject.

I've moved warge's post (and the replies to it) here from another thread where they were off topic.

There was recently a rewrite of FBReader iirc (sometime 2009?) I have version 0.8.17, and it works fine here (n810; Diablo 4.1). Adding files to the library:
* Tap the "book-with-plus" icon.
* Tap on the ".." directory at the top of the directory listing, until you reach "/"
* Tap on media
* Tap on mmc1
* Tap on books
* Choose file

I don't recall how it worked in earlier versions, although I remember that it worked to some extent at least then too (I had a bunch of unencrypted mobipocket/palm-type books on my sdcard from my palm). Perhaps un-installing and then re-installing will help here?
