I am considering the Nokia N900, I had decided previously to go for the Nokia E72 until I saw this unit.

Two applications I require for my phone are

To - do - list such as zToDo http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/ztodo/

Encryption such as Maemo Krypt - http://www.maemo-apps.org/content/sh...?content=51727

Will either of these applications run on the Nokia N900?

As a side note, I am a keen SNES fan and love Mario Kart...I understand there is an emulator for the N900...but the Mario Kart SNES game had what is known as a DSP graphics chip in the cartridge...can anyone comment if they got Mario Kart to play on the N900?

As another side note, is AIM or MSN Messenger available for the N900? I saw Skype app, but no mention of others.

There's a To Do list function built into the Calendar app, apparently, and I'm sure there will be third-party ones too soon. Don't know about Maemo Krypt, as I've never heard about it until now (it doesn't look like it's been touched recently). I'll pass on the other questions too.

Thanks, that's great news the To-Do list is built in to the N900.

I am sure there will be some sort of encryption app available. Like many people, I store my passwords for everything encrypted on my phone (Ipaq with Resco encryptions).

Just to add, apparently the Nokia E72 can encrypt a memory card, no idea if the N900 does it (or even takes a memory card?)

It takes microSD in addition to the built-in 32GB, and, sure, you could encrypt both cards if you wanted although support for that is not included out of the box.

N900 takes micro SDHC cards - don't think there is any info regarding encryption out of the box.

There's an app called PWSafe which is specifically for encrypting passwords, so might be ok for your specific use case. You'll be able to encrypt/decrypt any file from the command-line using openssl, but someone would need to write a GUI if you want that (which I believe is what Maemo Krypt was for the 770).

Thanks....I did know that older Nokia devices and the E72 alledgely encrypt the memory card out of the box.

OK, so there's a command line I can use in the N900 for these apps? Pardon my ignorance.

Can anyone also give some info on which of these clients work on the N900? Do they just port and work from other Nokia phones?

MSN messenger
AIM
Skype

???

Yes there is a command-line (a busybox shell, although bash is also available to download).
