will the nokia n900 come with a 16GB MICRO SD CARD or will i need to buy one

It does not come with any SD card. It had 32GB of internal memory. If you need 48GB then you should order a 16GB Micro SD card.

You might want to consider class 6 microSD cards for performance?

Once you get over 8gb, you need at least class 4, preferably class 6, unless you plan to wait all day for the files to copy.

Why is this? Do you mean because you are likely to be transferring more data when using larger cards or are you saying that a class 2 16gb cards actually have a slower transfer rate than class 2 8gb ones?

i need a card for watching films on and storing big files is a 16gb class 2 card to slow for that or would i need class 6

You can get Class 6 16GB from newegg for like $42
