For several months, the update manager on my N810 has been telling me there's an update for GPE Calendar (to 2.8). But whenever I tried to install it, it fails with missing packages (gpe-icons being one...it's a long list I'm not going to try to retype unless needed).
This weekend I thought I'd just apt-get install those packages myself to try to fix it. Big mistake, as I apparently used up my boot disk space AND got into a reboot loop.
I eventually recovered from that by reflashing and restoring a backup. However, now I'm even worse off. I have GPE todo installed, but neither GPE calendar nor GPE summary will install. Calendar gives me the same original errors and GPE summary (which I need to see stuff on the home screen) says "Application package not found".
How can I get these things installed? Alternatively, are there other calendar/todo apps out there that
a) display on the home screen
b) don't require a full-time internet connection
