It has been pointed out in various places that there are too many FAQ-like pages on w.m.o. dneary suggested in the N900_FAQ discussion page the structure of Users-FAQ and Developers-FAQ which I think is a good one.

Still has the problem of N900 vs other users, but I think it's workable and much simpler than looking around myriad pages, so...

I've done a little thinking, and as a straw man put up http://wiki.maemo.org/User:Smarsh/Ideas/FAQIdea

It's not finished, I have run out of time for this week (maybe have some on the weekend, who knows...)

It has the principles, which it doesn't always live up to, of:
- restrict page length
- max click-throughs to get to answer - 3 from top page

I'm trying to adhere to those because it's easier to browse short pages even on a desktop, and on a tablet... 'nuff said. And if the pages with the answers can be clicked to quickly (and even bookmarked) they can be used properly.

The added bonus is the ability to assign editors for individual FAQ sections, but the downside is that of multiple pages. I can live with that.

Please, take a look and remember it's a work in progress and a straw man (that is, I don't mind if you burn it down, but constructive burning is always nice). It does not have all the content from the previous FAQs in it yet, as I said I'll put more in as I can, I'm using the previous FAQs as guidance, and will not take out anything other than duplication. As Nokia says, this is step 2 of a 3 or 4 step process for me

If you have comments, suggestions, changes, etc. please comment here for preference, or the talk sections for the pages there.

Thanks for your attention.
Steve

It's timely to sort this out now given the ultimate arrival of new devices.

The new FAQ is now live. Thanks to all who commented...

http://wiki.maemo.org/FAQ

Note - it still needs some answers, and you may feel it misses questions. There are 2 options:

1. Add the answer or question to the FAQ page
2. PM me and I will happily do it for you.

Comments welcome, comme toujours.
