http://www.koffice.org/news/koffice-2-1-released/

"During the development of 2.1, it was also announced that KOffice is going to be used in the Nokia n900 smartphones based on Maemo Linux."

Epic WIN for Maemo and N900!

That's great news! I didn't see any mention of timeframe for availability on N900. Did I miss it?

Cool. The N900 will be the first phone with a full office suite.

If you follow the link in that blog post, you'll see it talks about an office viewer for maemo 5 based on KOffice, not a full fledged office suite.

To be precise it says

based on KOffice and uses the KWord and KPresenter applications to load and display word processor and presentation documents.
Not sure if that means only view.

It was previously posted here:

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=31805

That post actually says:

"Note that while title mentions "viewer" text is about complete KOffice so not only viewing but also edition and creation of documents should be possible.".

So maybe it does creation/editing too!

I would've preferred to see Openoffice get ported, but any office suite is WAY more than you'll find on any of the other smartphone platforms.

KOffice is an easier port as based on QT.

Is StarOffice QT based ?

looks like the goal is to port the full KOffice suite at some point (check out the maemo (diablo?) screenshot).

The announcement was made in September. They demonstrated the viewer at the Summit. There's been no word of this since. Nowhere to be found in the repositories, either.
