hi everyone, i think i made a mess tonite..

i started unistalling from the manager the kernel 48, because the phone was giving me lots of problems since the installation of the upgrade.

well, i thought that having it installed from panel i could unistall it as well from there.

at reboot the phone stopped booting showing only the nokia logo and kept rebooting

at this point the phone was still recognized by the pc

as suggested somewhere i tried to put it in RD mode with the flasher

that did not help reboot, but now the pc does not seem to recognize the phone anymore therefor can't flash it

when i turn it on it show the white logo nokia with some details about the kernel, etc

i don't seem to be able to disable the RD mode anymore.

as soon as I put the battery back in, the screen comes up

is it time to buy another phone?

thanks

ps if it can help, the screen show under the kernel details etc

no initfs \o/

the phone is not found by the pc. it just hangs with

suitable usb interface... not found, waiting...

on the same port before switching to rd mode iw was instantly recognized with the win noise - now it does not happen

tried with different pc as well, same result

screen show nokia logo, usb logo and the spanner under the nokia in the center

You'll probably have to reflash the phone.

As has been suggested, search for the Wiki as regards to doing this, download Maemo Flasher, the correct firmware for your reflash and away you go, it's all explained in the Wiki.

Tip, plug usb cable into pc/laptop, slide open n900, hold 'u' on the qwerty keyboard and then plug in usb cable to phone, after a few moments the phone will be detected, run Maemo Flasher and away you go.

It's all explained in the Wiki.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't help if you don't tell us what OS is your computer running (the one that is responsible for flashing the semi-bricked device).

sure, it was winxp mofo, booted into lubuntu from the same pc and managed to revive the phone, but i think i'm just going to fully reflash the phone . thanks everyone
