I took my simcard out of my crappy old phone and simply placed it in my n900. I am able to make calls and send/recieve text messages just fine, but I am unable to import my contacts from the sim card onto the phone. I clicked on "Get Contacts" in the Contacts app, and then the "Copy from SIM card" button but nothing happens. It just brings me back to my (nearly) empty contacts list. It seems that noone else is having this problem, so hopefully I am just doing something wrong/stupid .

Thanks

Interesting - which country and which operator is this about?
How old approximately is the SIM card?

Did you remember to copy your contacts to your SIM card in your old phone before putting it in your N900?

I just did the same yesterday and it worked fine for me.

Aha! This was it Cthulhu. I didnt realize that I was saving contacts onto the phone rather than the SIM card on my old Nokia 6030, but copying them over to my SIM card worked perfectly
