Hi Guys,

Does anyone know how to get DivX web player working on the N900? N900 digs avi and DivX videos like it was made just for that but when it comes to websites like stagevu.com, it just conks. I even tried opening the file with the mediaplayer (from the browser) but it says file format not supported. This is kinda weird as I was able to play avi and DivX files which I transferred manually to the .videos folder. Is there a way around this?

If you read the information on the site it makes use of some software called DivX player. The site only makes this available for Windows and Mac. The issue here is actually nothing to do with DivX but a proprietary control.

There is a divx player for my N95 8gb but it doesn't auto activate from the browser.
This is why skyfire is needed it bypasses all of this bulls***.
Go to divx wesbite and ask them to make a maemo version that plugs into to the maemo browser.

Kind of OT but I went to a local radio station website to listen online and got the exact web address for the player. I put that into the internet radio as a station and it wont support that plug in either. Hopefully they start coming out with plug ins. Im still waiting to see if I can stream sirius from the browser.

This might have something to do with the original site strreaming DivX across a proprietary control. The only time I have seen this done is to enforce some form of DRM. If this is the case then with no DRM on the N900 I suspect their is even less incentive than the small userbase of Maemo5 already.
