Hello fellow maemo users. My n900 decided to die on me when pr1.2 was released. I have tried to reflash it, change batteries etc but nothing works.

The screen's backlight lights up with two horizontal white lines in the middle. I can't see any nokia logos or anything similar but I managed to reflash it but still nothing. Tv out works and I can control the phone with the screen I just can't see a picture on the phone.

I suspect it is a hardware problem but I bought it from the US and currently living in Denmark. So I don't have warranty. I tried to open up the phone and reseat the ribbon cable that connects the screen and the other half. Still the same problem. I can order the LCD AM and the flex ribbon cable to see if it fixes it but not sure if I should? Thanks for the help. I hope this doesn't happen to any of you.

Sorry to hear that
You did right things but if its still not showing I suspect its a defect...if its still under warranty you can use a courier to ship to the US but I assume it gonna cost a lot

Should I take matters into my own hands and buy the LCD replacement and the ribbon cable?

try any nokia care center near you, ask they first, ask about the warranty too, i think you will pay low price in this case, maybe not sure.

Ah thanks. The thing is I opened it and some of the screws are a little messed up maybe? Not sure what to do about that.
